Description
The shimmering blue flash, off an otherwise black wing, is the natural beauty of the Sapho Longwing butterfly (Heliconius sapho.) It was named after Sappho, an early Greek female poet, who was referred to as “The Tenth Muse” by the philosopher Plato. This beauty typically lives 52 days dining on passion vines from Central America to Ecuador.
