Description
I love encounters with wild butterflies. I usually have to look closely and approach very slowly.
This white or light green Cabbage White butterfly (Pieris rapae) was discovered in the Morro Bay National Estuary and State Marine Reserve on the central coast of California.
As the name implies, this butterfly is often found near crops since it's young feed on cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Cabbage whites are widespread species found on six continents including North America, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
