I could almost feel the laser-intensity of this wild Osprey's golden stare. As I crept closer with my camera, this amazing raptor only paused before returning to its catch. Being so close to a wild bird of prey - magnificent!
Most Ospreys (also called sea hawk, river hawk and fish hawk) fly toward Brazil to overwinter, so I felt very fortunate to encounter this one so late in the year. It had caught a large jacksmelt from the Morro Bay Estuary, Morro Bay State Marine Reserve, California and perched nearby to enjoy it's lunch.
