Navigating through dense reeds, a mother raccoon and her three youngsters made their way back from the water's edge. This little one fell a little behind enabling me to snap a photo.
Raccoons snare a lot of their meals in the water. Perhaps their mother used her lightning-quick paws to grab crayfish, frogs, and other aquatic creatures for supper. It's a skill these kits will need to survive life on the shores of Oso Flaco Lake, Guadalupe, California.
