Nestled within an extraordinarily wealthy community of multi-million dollar estates, the Santa Barbara Greek Orthodox Church's iconic blue dome can be seen.
In 1950, Greeks who had immigrated to Santa Barbara, California, built a small church which has grown into a cultural and spiritual center of the community. The blue dome honors the memory of Saint Barbara who refused to renounce her faith despite being tortured, and eventually beheaded, in the year 290.
