The fire-cracker red dragonfly easily caught this photographer’s attention. They’re fast and agile. Red Skimmers are able to hover and can make exceptionally quick directional changes, even for a dragonfly.
The beautiful and flashy Flame Skimmer (Libellula saturata) is widely found in Wyoming, Idaho, California and the Southwestern United States although its habitat has been impacted, reducing numbers.
