Description
You're just walking along when you hear a crunch behind you. Listening, you pause dead still. Another crunch and in a flash the chase is on. Some large, bipedal primate with a black stick is after you! Fly, land, run - get away!
The ring-neck pheasant is well adapted for life on the ground but it will take to flight when it flees for it's life. With a rapid flurry of short wing beats the bird rises a short distance, locks its wings, and glides into protective cover. Upon landing, a few more quick strides will usually complete the escape.

Thank you Elisabeth! I agree, his fabulous purple, sapphire blue, aqua and fire-engine red feathers are beautiful. :)
