Silvery, star-shaped wooly hairs helps the Apricot Mallow or Desert Glovemallow to conserve moisture and reflect sunlight. It's mastered adapting to extremely dry habitats often found in the Southwest United States.
Those beautiful apricot orange blossoms last from spring though autumn giving the golden longwing butterfly ample opportunity to visit. The orange-black spotted butterfly called Hecale longwing, golden longwing or golden heliconian, (Heliconius hecale) is a found in the states of Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. They thrive from Mexico to the Peruvian Amazon.
