Description
Searching for a mate, the California Tarantula (Aphonopelma sp.) patrols Soda Lake Road which runs strait through Carrizo Plain National Monument in central California, USA.
Although this tarantula more closely resembles Aphonopelma eutylenum, experts say it's more likely A. iodius due to the location where it was discovered.
As a side note, I encouraged this tarantula to continue it's journey off the road. Driven to find a mate, it may decide to walk back onto the asphalt. With luck, he will soon find his true love.

Thank you Aurelio! I had to lay on down on the road for this one - fortunately, traffic was very light that day. :)
