Description
If your predators are sharp-eyed birds, even a slow slither through the trees can expose your hiding spot. Neatly camouflaged, the Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis) spends most of their day perfectly still draped over tree branches or coiled in tree hollows in New Guinea or Northern Australia. They wait until dusk to break their resting pose then move onto low branches holding a ready-to-strike position. Persistent, they'll wait up to two weeks in the same hunting spot for prey to wander by.
