Being able to walk up to any glacier is a stunning experience, but only by walking on top of one will you discover it's hidden treasures.
Matanuska Glacier at 24 miles long and 4 miles wide at the terminus, is perhaps most impressive roadside glacier in Alaska. Just a 2.5-hour drive from Anchorage, Matanuska Glacier is easily accessible but guides are highly recommended for inexperienced ice hikers.
