Description
Intelligent and beautiful, this chocolate-brown raptor has much in common with the most lethal pack hunters.
Harris Hawks, sometimes called Bay-winged hawks or Dusty hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus) employ one of the most unusual, sophisticated styles of cooperative hunting strategies known to birds. They hunt in groups of 2 to 6, running down their prey into exhausted submission.
It's the Harris hawks social nature that makes this beautiful chestnut and chocolate-brown American hawk, so easy for falconers to train.
