Description
The smell of damp earth rising from underfoot, the sound of snapping twigs echoing off the hills around you and finally emerging at the summit, breathless, to find the whole world spread out beneath you - that's what you'll find when you challenge yourself to climb Buck Mountain, Grand Teton National Park.
Nearby, Mount Wister (right side of image) is tucked away in a breathtaking canyon of alpine rock. These mountains are blanketed with heavy snow in autumn, winter and early spring but when the snow melts, these beauties are on the bucket list of experienced climbers. Buck Mountain is 11,943 ft (3,640 m) and Mount Wister is 11,495 ft (3,504 m.)
