Description
In 1928, a Packard Model 8A All-Weather Landaulet Cabriolet with Castagna interior was exported from Milano, Italy to the United States and displayed at the renowned Hotel Commodore Salon in New York.
The body style, akin to a roadster but with roll-down side windows, became known as 'The Commodore' and was so popular that Isotta Fraschini took orders for ten more to be delivered to American buyers.
One of the first to own this luxury vehicle was Mrs. Signa Lynch, wife of Edmund C. Lynch, co-founder of Merrill-Lynch. This is a photograph of her car currently displayed in the Nethercutt Museum, California. Estimated price when new: $12,000 (equivalent to US$181,600 in 2021.)
